I come to you with not so much good news, unfortunately!

I came across something that really upset me. You know those lovely rare pictures I have posted so many times? Well, someone had the audacity to steal them, but not only that, they cut off Jen-Fans’ tag and posted somewhere else as their own.

I worked so hard and spent too much money on getting them, and someone comes, removes my tag and post it as they found it? At first I was really mad, but then I was upset because I work so hard to bring you guys the pictures that, someone didn’t care to think about that it would have consequences. And I’m sure that person is probably reading this right now!

So, I have been thinking, I don’t want anyone else stealig my rare pictures (I really don’t care about the regular stuff as events and candids), so I can either not post them at all anymore, but I feel like you guys won’t like that at all. I do want you guys to see it, but I really don’t want to spend money if someone else is going to take them. That’s just rude. Or I can put a tag where there is no way to be stolen, but it would kind of ruin the picture and people who use it for graphics etc, wouldn’t be very happy about it!

I don’t know, but it seems like everyone is paying for one person’s desire to get credit for something they didn’t do. It’s actually pretty sad!

So, you guys can tell me what you want maybe? Or maybe give me suggestions on what to do from now on, because I’m totally lost and upset at the moment! But for now, I’m not posting anything.

Biba, I have some suggestions.
First: maybe u can create a new option: create an account. So only registered, logged in members, will be able to see the rare pics and save them in their pcs. that means that we will have to leave our emails so that u will know who sees the pics. unregistered members wont be able to access the pictures. This way you will know all of those that sees ur pics.
Another option is to put the tag somewhere more obvious. Not in the middle of the picture, because I create graphics too, but somewhere more obvious. Also, another solution is to disable clicking and downloading/saving the pictures by users. that would be sad for me because I do create greaphics and collages for my pc background. Also you could post the pics for a minimum ammount of time… You can even mix more than one of my suggestions.
I will think of more suggestions. I was really sad to read all these, its really unfair!!!!! Keep up the good work, we support u!!!!

I’m sad this has happened to you, you spend do much time and effort on this website which we all love, thank you for everything you do. If you have to put a tag on a picture to make sure there is no way for the picture to be stolen then do whatever you have to do because it’s not right for people to steal pictures and not get your permission to use them or pay to use them.

I’m really sorry to read that. I’ve been online long enough to say that there are two kind of people: 1. The ones who knows where and how you get those rare stuff and steal them knowing what they’re doing 2. the newbies that don’t even knows what means run a site! I don’t know if those people who stole pics from you are from category 1 or 2 but not everyone is polite enough to do things right and they try! Those kind of things always happen and always will (unfourtunately) so I suggest you to tag pics in a place where can’t be cut so anyone can steal them and, sorry for this but don’t care about people who do graphics. The purpose of the site is show pics more than graphics, in this case each and every tag waste pics! I had difficulties lately with a very small tag at the bottom so, if there’lll be a problem there’ll be anyway and anywhere tag is! If you spend money and time to find those pics, you should be at least credited for it and, if people are not fair and polite enough to do that by themself, provide yourself! Tons of sites do that. Especially the sites that are gorgeous like this so I don’t see the problem. You’ve been too much nice and polite asking our opinions and, since I run several websites and I’ve done that for 5 years. This is mine. You can make everyone happy. I think that a small tag (not invasive) where someone can’t cut it will be a perfect solution!

On Coppermine you do have a couple options you can One as was suggested Below Change the Gallery to Registered members only Second of the other option is to password protect thoses folders

In the end it kind of comes down to the fact that to hack a coppermine gallery is very easy which is a bad thing Maybe an option is instread of all that disable right click

Thanks Ling! About close the gallery to registerd users only, I don’t think is a solution for this kind of problem! If people want to steal something they find the way to do that! If Biba find something on another site how can she understand which is the person that stole that? She can’t ban everyone and if someone stole something in a gallery for registered users only I hope he/she will be smart enough to not use the same nick and/or mail he/she has on the site or place where repost the stuff XD

I agree with ling,to create a very restricted nominative area for downoloading rare pics…I would’t have any problem to give my data,as I do for subscription on newspapers,magazines,or anything else

Biba, eu AMO seu site. Dentre alguns sites da Jennifer, o seu é o melhor. Todos os dias eu estou aqui pra ver novas fotos e vídeos.
Eu não sei nada sobre sites, nunca tive um. E nem sei como funciona.
Só quero dizer que qualquer que seja sua decisão, eu vou apoiar. Só não quero que vc pare de fazer o trabalho maravilhoso que vc faz todos os dias. Já é difícil ter notícias da Jennifer. Se vc parar, vai ser mais difícil ainda!

I think the best solution is that only registered members can see the rare pics in the gallery.

You could put a watermark in the middle of the picture like a site such as Getty images does and then password protect the the HQ downloads.

Biba, I’m so sorry to know that your pics were steal. Some people have no respect for other’s work.
I know that you work really hard to let this place be the best site dedicated to Jen. And I can’t thank you enough for that.
I like what Carrie suggested…it may be a good solution!
Anyway I will approve whatever decision you’ll take!

I’m sorry to hear that. It must really suck to find out that someone steals your pictures.
I think it’s a good idea to let only registered people see your gallery. Additionally you could watermark every picture and if there are any fans who want to use them for fanart they can email you and ask for the original photo. That way you can keep track of who gets your photos and can take action in case someone steals them again.

OMG Biba, I am so sorry to hear this unfortunate news. I know how hard you work to bring us this stuff and can’t say enough how much I adore you for it. I am fighting back tears as I read this.

I am at a loss as to any solutions because I am totally computer illerate. It is my guilty pleasure to come here and enjoy all this great stuff featuring my all-time actor and catch glimpses of her private and profesional life. I join all the other loyal Jen fans in hoping you find a way to protect what is yours and at the same time provide us with the pleasure you have in the past. I will forever be in your debt and offer any support I can. I know you will work it out. Keep the faith.

It’s a shame. I really like to see pics of Jen and her adorable little girls, and read/see the latest pics of Jen at events. She had the best dress at the GG, really beautiful.
