Garner Eyeing Role In ‘Arthur’ Remake!
Posted by Biba • 15 Comments »

Looks like Jen might be doing another comedy. Great cast though.

Jennifer Garner and Nick Nolte are in talks to join the cast of “Arthur,” Warner Bros.’ remake of the 1981 comedy.

Russell Brand and Helen Mirren are starring in the pic, which Jason Winer is directing.

Closely hewing to the original, the new “Arthur” follows a very rich, happy drunk who is told by his mother that he must marry the wealthy girl of her choosing or else lose his inheritance, just as he meets a poor girl (Greta Gerwig) and falls in love.

Garner is playing an heiress who carries her own secrets and whom Brand must marry. Nolte is her deeply religious father.

Larry Brezner is producing with Kevin McCormick and Chris Bender.

Garner, repped by WME and Management 360, took part in New Line’s ensemble rom-com “Valentine’s Day” and recently wrapped “Butter,” an indie dramedy set in the small-town world of competitive butter-sculpting. “Butter” is serving as her debut as a film producer.

Another comedy? I hoped that she was going to be in a drama this time. but it sounds kind of nice. I can sense some intrigue between the characters.

Oh no… not another comedy. I’d really like to see her in a drama or action movie again. She was fabulous in Alias. It’s a shame that she’s wasting her talent with comedy. :(

I was hoping for a drama too or action as her next project. I hope its a good script and character role for her, I think she also was excited about the chance to be in the same movie as Helen Mirren. I read a some spoilers about the script and Jen’s role, her character has a secret, do you want me to spoil it for you?

As much as I would have liked to see her in another genre, I do not think she is wasting her talent, she is playing against type in Butter and also in this role. Both of these roles have an edge, she is not playing the sweet girl next door type. Im still quite excited for her.

I too wish she would do a drama next, but she seems like she really loves doing rom coms!

What’s the secret? Let me guess, she’s poor and not rich at all? lol

Biba do you really want to know? It’s juicy.

Do you guys think she is pregnant? The gossip blogs are going crazy. i dont think she is because she has some movies scheduled. I also heard that she might be in an another Marvel movie. is that true?

I don’t know ling if she’s pregnant or not. And I don’t know if she will be on another Marvel Movie. We have to wait to find out though!

I saw Get him to the Greek – actually Russell Brand was quite a good actor I thought – I also heard the script was pretty good also. I hate action movies and I think girls in them are usually thankless roles – it would be unusual to see a female carry an action movie unless its Angelina Jolie so I think the roles that she chooses are the best and easiest to work around with a family which you know the girls are her #1 priority as it should be. I don’t think she would take on this role if she were pregnant. The blogs should leave her and Gwen Steffani alone!

I don’t think that Angelina Jolie is the only actress that can pull off action movies. Jennifer Garner is one of the best ones out there who can do action movies very well. Alias is a great example.

I hate that Jen’s being stereotyped to romcoms. I wish she would step out of that and do something different, something other than comedies. She’s so talented and seems like she’s wasting all of her talent in those comedy movies. Not saying they aren’t good movies, but I just wish that sometimes she would venture somewhere else.

I would love to see her show her acting chops in a more meatier role but I guess the time is not right. Her roles seem to be in keeping with her role as a mom to her kids, what with them being so young and dependent on her (plus she hates to miss putting them to bed at night) causes to chose roles that don’t take her away from them too much.

Like you Biba, I don’t like seeing her typecast as a rom com actor, but I will always support her in whatever she does. She had me as Sydey Bristow. lol

I think this is going to be a nice comedy! The cast is so good! But I would like to see Jen in a drama.
